Dogs, Drinks & Downtown — Paws & Pints Is Exactly What You Think It Is
Beer. Adoptable dogs. A glass you get to keep. A stroll through downtown Ridgefield with your people. Some events you hear about and think "I wish I'd known." This is not that. You know. Now go.
There are some ideas that are so obviously good you can't believe they haven't happened sooner. Wandering around your downtown on a Saturday afternoon, drink in hand, stopping into local spots to meet adoptable dogs — and potentially walking home with a new family member? That's not an event. That's a dream.
The Paws & Pints Pub Crawl is happening in downtown Ridgefield on Saturday, April 11th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and the person you have to thank for it is Renee Serface.
If you've spent any time downtown Ridgefield, you already know The Neighborhood Refuge — the stunning converted 1880s church at 113 S Main Ave that Renee and her husband Justin poured years of work into before opening it as one of the most distinctive gathering spaces in SW Washington. What you may not know is how much Renee keeps showing up for this community, not just as a business owner but as someone who genuinely invests in making downtown Ridgefield worth coming to. The Paws & Pints Pub Crawl is hers — she put it together, she rallied the businesses, and she made it happen. The rest of downtown is along for the ride, and honestly, good for them for saying yes.
"What's better than beer and dogs?" — honestly, nothing. Start at The Neighborhood Refuge, grab your commemorative glass if you went VIP, and let the afternoon take you where it takes you.
The crawl is free to attend — just show up, hit the participating locations at whatever pace suits you, and spend some time with dogs who are looking for their people. Each stop will have adoptable pups from local rescue organizations on-site, so this isn't just a fun afternoon out. It's the kind of afternoon where people's lives actually change.

Worth every penny · Tickets close April 10th- A commemorative event glass — yours to keep

Start at The Neighborhood Refuge
Check-in for the event is at The Neighborhood Refuge, 113 S Main Ave. If you're going VIP — and you should — that's where you'll pick up your commemorative glass and get into the bourbon tasting. But even if you're rolling in free, this is your natural starting point. Grab a craft cocktail, settle into one of the best-designed spaces in Ridgefield, and get your bearings before you head out to explore the rest of downtown.
The Neighborhood Refuge is open Thursday through Sunday — but on April 11th, Renee and her team will have the place ready for a full afternoon of it. Keep an eye on their social channels closer to the date for anything else they'll be offering that day.
The Stops
Eight downtown businesses are participating, spread across a very walkable stretch of Ridgefield. Each stop will have adoptable dogs from local rescue organizations on-site throughout the afternoon — adoption agency details will be added here as they're confirmed. Follow The Neighborhood Refuge for updates closer to the date.
The Neighborhood Refuge
113 S Main Ave · Your starting point. Check in here, pick up your VIP glass and bourbon tasting if you upgraded, and grab a craft cocktail before you head out. Renee and her team transformed a stunning 1880s church into one of the most distinctive gathering spaces in SW Washington — worth arriving early just to take it in.
Sportsman's Public House
121 N Main Ave · One of Ridgefield's most beloved spots — a historic bar and grill anchored by a Peruvian mahogany bar that's been in this building since 1926. Known for live music on weekends, cold drinks, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio, which makes this stop especially fitting.
Little Conejo Norte
206 N Main Ave · The Ridgefield outpost of Vancouver's beloved taco and mezcal spot. Authentic Oaxacan-style tacos, generous portions, local art on the walls, and outdoor seating. If you haven't been yet, this is a very good excuse to finally go. Al Pastor Torta is the move.
Ridgefield Wine Company
Downtown Ridgefield · A proper wine bar in the heart of downtown — great for slowing down mid-crawl and spending some quality time with a glass and a pup. Check their site for current hours and what's pouring that weekend.
Ridgefield Craft Brewing
Downtown Ridgefield · Local craft beer, brewed right here in Ridgefield. A taproom stop that feels right at home in a pub crawl — rotate through whatever's on tap and spend time with the adoptable dogs they'll have on-site.
Zebrun's Starliner Deli, Groceries & Café
Downtown Ridgefield · A local deli and café that's part of the fabric of downtown Ridgefield. A great spot to grab something to eat between stops and meet the dogs they'll be hosting for the afternoon.
Ridgefield Mercantile
Downtown Ridgefield · A two-story vintage, home, and garden shop tucked into Ridgefield's historic Arts District — reviewers consistently call it the best hidden gem in Southern Washington. You're already walking around downtown with a drink; you might as well browse. Open Tuesday–Saturday 10–5:30, Sunday 11–4.
El Rancho Viejo
122 N 3rd Ave · A Ridgefield institution — family recipes passed down through generations, walls covered in beautiful paintings, margaritas worth lingering over, and the kind of warm service that makes you feel like a regular from day one. A fitting place to end the crawl if you're in need of chips, salsa, and a sit-down moment.

What to Know Before You Go
A few practical things worth keeping in mind for the day:
Start early if you're going VIP. Early access is one of the perks — use it. You'll get to meet the dogs before it gets busy, and the bourbon tasting is a nice way to ease in before the crawl gets rolling.
Bring your own dog if you want. A pub crawl with adoptable dogs is obviously a dog-friendly environment — leashed, well-socialized pups are absolutely part of the vibe. Just be mindful around the shelter dogs.
You do not need to be looking to adopt to enjoy this. Come for the drinks and the community. But don't be surprised if a dog looks at you and the math starts to change.
Downtown Ridgefield is walkable and easy. You don't need to move your car between stops. Park once, grab a drink, and let yourself wander. That's the whole point.
