Arktana Is Leaving Ridgefield — and Taking a Moving Sale With Them
After several years anchoring Discovery Ridge's retail row, Arktana is closing its Ridgefield doors for good — and spending the next couple of weeks saying goodbye with deep discounts on clothing, fixtures, and more. Here's what you need to know before they go.
If you've been a fan of Arktana's clothing selection — men's (Bigfoot Mountain Outfitters store next door) and women's styles, the kind of boutique finds that are hard to come by in a smaller town — now is the time to make one last trip to Discovery Ridge. The Ridgefield location is officially winding down, with their final day open on April 18th before the moving sale kicks off later that week.
For those who've been following the local retail picture, this one has a little backstory. When Juxtaposition announced it was closing earlier this year, there was a period where it looked like Arktana might be stepping in — consolidating their men's and women's shop into the vacated Juxtaposition space and staying in Ridgefield. That plan didn't materialize. Instead, Arktana made the call to pull out of Discovery Ridge entirely and consolidate in Camas, where their other location will continue operating.

It's a reminder that the Discovery Ridge retail environment has been a tough one for local boutiques. The economics of commercial leases in newer developments — built on long contracts with escalating rates — can make it hard for independent shops to sustain, especially in a market like Ridgefield where foot traffic is still building. Arktana isn't the first to find that math difficult, and unfortunately they probably won't be the last.
But the good news, if you love their clothes: the Camas location will keep going, and the next two weeks are a genuine opportunity to stock up at a significant discount. The moving sale runs April 22nd through April 29th, with select styles and fixtures marked 30% to 70% off — Ridgefield location only.

Arktana joins Juxtaposition as the second retailer to exit that stretch of Discovery Ridge in a short window. There's no official word yet on what — if anything — will move into the vacated spaces. For a development that was built to be a walkable retail destination, these back-to-back departures are worth watching. Ridgefield is growing fast, but growth doesn't automatically translate to retail foot traffic, and the lease structures in newer commercial developments can put real pressure on independent operators.
For now, the best thing the community can do is show up for the sale and wish the Arktana team well. They've been part of this town's story for a while, and it matters to give local businesses a proper send-off.
