Ridgefield Main Street has been running a rewards program for a few years now, and if you’re like most people in town, you’ve heard the word “Moola” tossed around without ever quite understanding what it is. A loyalty card? A coupon? Some kind of downtown currency only insiders know about?

It’s actually pretty simple — and honestly kind of great. And the timing matters this week, because Main Street just announced a summer Moola Weekend for July 10–12. That’s this Friday through Sunday. Here’s everything you need to know to cash in.

What Is Main Street Moola, Exactly?

Main Street Moola is a shop-local rewards program run by Ridgefield Main Street, the nonprofit that works to keep Downtown healthy and thriving. The idea is simple: spend money at participating Downtown businesses during a designated Moola Weekend, save your receipts, send them in, and get real spendable currency back.

Not points. Not a discount code. Actual Moola — a local currency accepted like cash at Downtown Ridgefield merchants. Think of it as a thank-you for keeping your dollars local.

How It Works, Step by Step

The Moola Playbook

Step 1
Shop, dine, and spend at Downtown businesses July 10–12. Most shops, restaurants, and services participate — the business directory has the full list.
Step 2
Snap a clear photo of every receipt. Digital receipts, email confirmations, and banking-app screenshots all count, as long as they show the business name, date, and pre-tax subtotal.
Step 3
Email your receipt photos to [email protected] by 5 PM on Tuesday, July 14.
Step 4
Ridgefield Main Street sends you your Moola — $10 for every $30 in qualifying receipts.
Step 5
Spend it like cash at any participating Downtown merchant. Moola issued in 2026 is good for a full year from the date issued.

The Moola Math

Every $30 you spend Downtown this weekend comes back as $10 in Moola. Receipts are capped at $300 per household per Moola Weekend — so a family that does its normal weekend spending Downtown (dinner out, coffee, groceries from the shops, a haircut) can walk away with up to $100 in Moola. For money you were going to spend anyway.

Why This Program Exists

Ridgefield Main Street is a nonprofit, and Moola is one of its signature programs for keeping Downtown economically healthy. Every Moola dollar redeemed goes directly to a Downtown merchant. And when you earn Moola, you have a built-in reason to come back and spend it — another visit, another coffee, another dinner, another reason to choose Main Street over the drive to Vancouver.

In 2025, over $30,000 was paid directly to Downtown merchants through the Moola program.

That number should stop you. Thirty thousand dollars, funneled straight to small local businesses — not to Amazon, not to a big-box store on the highway. The City of Ridgefield, the Ridgefield School District, and the Port of Ridgefield are all cornerstone partners in Ridgefield Main Street. This isn’t a side hustle; it’s a deliberate, funded effort to make Downtown the kind of place people want to be.

Quick Tips to Make the Most of It

Know Before You Spend

  • Most Downtown businesses participate — shops, restaurants, and services. A handful of non-retail businesses don’t, so check the business directory if you’re unsure about a specific spot.
  • Totals are calculated before tax and tip — so a $35 dinner check with tip might land under the $30 threshold. Worth knowing when you’re close to a Moola increment.
  • Tap to pay, Venmo, Apple Pay — all fine. Screenshots and emailed receipts are accepted as long as the business name, date, and subtotal are visible.
  • Don’t sit on the deadline. Receipts are due by email by 5 PM Tuesday, July 14 — two days after the weekend ends. Send them Sunday night while you remember.
  • Moola is treated like cash and isn’t tracked. If you lose it, it can’t be reissued. Treat it like a $20 bill: put it somewhere you’ll actually find it.

Miss This One? More Moola Is Coming

Two Moola Weekends have already come and gone this year — February 13–15 and the Spring Festival weekend of May 1–3 — and a Holiday weekend is set for November 27–29, just in time for small-business shopping season. The original 2026 date sheet also had Moola running every Sunday in August through farmers market season; with the July weekend now added to the calendar, double-check Main Street’s Moola page for the current schedule before you plan around the August dates.

One expiry note worth flagging: Moola issued in 2026 expires one year from the date issued, and any Moola issued before 2026 expires December 31, 2026. If you’ve got old Moola in a junk drawer, this is the year to spend it.

Quick Questions, Quick Answers

Do I have to sign up for anything?

No. There’s no card, no app, no account. Shop during the weekend, photograph your receipts, and email them in. That’s the whole system.

What counts as a valid receipt?

Paper receipts, digital receipts, email confirmations, and banking-app screenshots all work, as long as the photo clearly shows the business name, the date (July 10, 11, or 12), and the subtotal before tax and tip.

Where can I spend my Moola?

At participating Downtown Ridgefield merchants — which is most of them. It works like cash, though merchants don’t give change back, so it’s smartest to spend it on purchases at or above the bill’s value.

If you’re going to be Downtown this weekend anyway — and it’s July in Ridgefield, so you should be — there’s no reason not to participate. Keep your receipts, send them in by Tuesday at 5, and let Ridgefield Main Street put a little something back in your pocket for doing what you were already doing. And if you know a neighbor who still doesn’t know about Moola, send them this post — the more of us who participate, the more goes back to Downtown merchants, which is exactly the point.
