Ridgefield Wine Walk Returns Nov 7 Sips of the Season

The spring walk didn't happen, so Ridgefield Main Street went big for fall: fifteen stops, lower prices, four full hours, and beer and cider for anyone who'd rather skip the wine. Saturday, November 7. Get your tickets.

Normally, the Downtown Ridgefield Wine Walk happens twice a year. Normally, you'd have gotten one in March. You did not get one in March. So consider this the make-up date, and the folks at Ridgefield Main Street clearly took that personally, because the fall edition is the biggest version of this thing yet.

It's called Sips of the Season, it runs Saturday, November 7 from 3 to 7 p.m., and it's a fundraiser for Ridgefield Main Street, the nonprofit that keeps our downtown looking and feeling like the downtown we brag about to our out-of-town friends. You grab a glass, you get your tastings, and you wander Main Street from stop to stop on a November afternoon. That's the whole assignment. Rain or shine, because this is Southwest Washington and we are not made of sugar.

Bigger, cheaper, longer

Here's what changed, and it's all in your favor. Main Street opened the walk up to more people, so more tickets are out there. They lowered the prices, so five tastings is now twenty-five bucks. They stretched it to a full four hours, which means nobody has to speed-walk between stops like they're late for a flight. And they added stops: fifteen tasting locations scattered through downtown.

Put all that together and this stops being a quiet little wine stroll and starts being a party on Main Street. Which, honestly, is the energy downtown deserves going into the holidays.

Fifteen stops, four hours, one very walkable downtown. This is not the year to sit it out.

Not a wine person? Come anyway.

I know some of you saw the words "wine walk" and mentally checked out. Come back. There will be beer and cider available too, so the friend who only drinks IPAs and the friend who thinks all wine tastes like "red" can both come along. Nobody gets left on the couch.

And look, the drinks are half of it. The other half is walking into shops you've driven past a hundred times, saying hi to the owners, and remembering why you live in a town where people actually know your name. It's also a pretty perfect excuse to scope out holiday gifts while you're at it.

Downtown Businesses: Want In?

I'm on the Ridgefield Main Street promotions committee, and we'd love to have more downtown businesses involved in this one. Whether you want to host a tasting stop or get in on it some other way, email me at [email protected] and I'll get you connected.

How to Do the Wine Walk Right

  • Buy early. More tickets are available this time, but it's November, it's Ridgefield, and people have been waiting since spring.
  • Get there for 2:30 check-in at Overlook Park so you're not standing in line while everyone else is already on stop two.
  • Bring your ID. Every single person. Yes, even you.
  • Dress for weather. It's rain or shine. Layers, a real jacket, and shoes you can walk in.
  • Eat something. Before, during, after. Downtown has plenty of options; use them.
  • Plan your ride home. Designate a driver or line up a ride. We want everyone back for the next one.

Quick questions, quick answers

Grab your people, grab your tickets, and come fill up Main Street on November 7. And if you see me out there, say hi. I'll be the one who has opinions about every stop.
